i have the hauppauge pvr-500. when watching live tv the picture is crystal clear however when recording any show the recording is fuzzy and pixely. at one point i was experiencing that with live tv so i switched the capture devices around. my question is how do i get both tuners to display crystal clear picture. does it mean that i have a bad tuner....

i am a newbie at this and have searched the forums to no avail. Any help much appreciated Big Grin

There have been a few users with this sort of problem. At this stage I'm guessing its either a driver problem or hardware problem that leads to one of the two PVR500 tuner to have really bad reception. Unfortunately I dont know of any fix.

ok, i tried something else, i used wintv2000 and while watching something recorded another channel. when i went to play what i recorded the picture is very crisp.... not fuzziness or pixelation....
so do you think it could be a driver issue more than a tuner issue - i'm thinking that since i am watching something and recording at the same time its using both tuners... would you agree?
if so which drivers should i be looking at.... Sad

I have that problem with mine also...one tuner fine the other almost like the antenna is not connected. I sorta solved it by using the 'weak' tuner for svideo in from my satellite receiver, it works fine that way. May not work for you, tho...

I haven't tried using Wintv2000, tho. But if you were watching one thing and recording another you were definitely using both tuners (assuming those are the only tuners in the system). If they were both good then it's not the card and I think wintv2000 would use the same drivers as GB-PVR. Hmmm....

thats the only tuner card i have, right now i do not have any type of Set top box included in the mix. i just have basic cable service going into the card. i think i might try the cable top box configuration to see if that helps but i doubt it will. hopefully someone else in the forum can provide some ideas on where i can look.
thanks for the replySmile
