Hi All,

I've been having a problem with HIP lately and cannot determine what the problem is. Basically, channel changing of my STB is inconsistent or does not work. Strange thing is that it worked for a few months without issue. If I schedule a recording on a 3 digit channel, the channel does not always change correctly. I know the keys are programmed right in HIP because testing them works. Also, if I change it with my MCE remote, the channels on my STB change without isse. I have already done a re-install and a reconfiguration of HIP and GBPVR multiple times. Can anyone make a suggesstion? Is there any way to set a delay in HIP for how long to wait before entering the next key. Any advice or recommendations would be great. Thanks

hi there,
if you take a look at the HipGuide on the wiki there is a small mention at the very bottom on how to control the delay. theres also a method of setting the repeat pattern somewhere in hip. im just off a nightshift so memorys a bit vague but try going to the preferences and selecting the 'output' tab and seeing if theres a configuration button in there. i remember seeing a popup that had about three sliders on it allowing you to define the length of the signal being sent to the blasters.
also another option to fiddle with, are you using the alternative driver? i started out using it and eventually started to find that the performance was inconsistent after resuming from standby. sometimes the remote wouldnt work until i unplugged it, sometimes the remote would but the blasters wouldnt.
so one option would be to try the original driver and see if that performs better. in my experience it does. go to my user profile and take a root through my previous posts, one of my past posts describes how to use the original driver but without loosing the advantages of the alternative driver. the post i made is a few months back at least, possibly more, and ive been running the hip setup as described without problem since then.

Well, I did as you send in your previous post. Still didn't work. Seems like HIP has trouble sending the second digit in a 3 digit channel. Even more strange is that it really has problems with the # 0. Does anyone else have any ideas? Could this be a problem with the GBPVR software? Would upgrading it to a newer version help?

Did you manage to figure this out? I've used HIP for a while and mostly it's good, but I have issues with channels 10,11, 12 and 13...

I've tested each digit and they're fine individually...could be a timing issue...

I spent a long time last night looking into this (both on the forum and on the application) and I thought that the answer was that my Sky decoder used the toggle code when sending out channels with the same numbers.

e.g. 11 = 1 <toggle code> 1.

Then it occurred to me after reading another post that it might be a problem with the lengths of the learned codes from my Sky remote.

I came to this conclusion because 49 registered as channel 4 and then channel 9, but 4 worked on it's own. So I thought perhaps the 4 was longer than the other values...

Sure enough the 4 was over 500 in length. I've now managed to get them all down to 95 in size.

The bonus is that the channels now change quicker and now I can also get 11 to work Smile

All this without messing around with IR timings etc.

Just remember when you're learning your remote code - just tap it really quickly. Might take a couple of goes...

Its funny as my cable box needs longer key presses and a length of 200+ to send properly.

I'll be keeping an eye on it to make sure it's stable. The main thing is there was pretty much a 0% success rate with the likes of "11" last night, so something's improved Smile

There's probably potential to play about with the timings (error timeout/delay/repeat count etc), but one thing at a time!!
