A couple of questions for anybody...?

I think i have everything pretty much sorted as i want and so these are merely refinements i could do with some advice on:

1. I tend to record a lot of movies which i convert to DVD using Ulead Movie factory (good software but can anyone suggest better?) the problem is 'medium' quality tends to set the size of a 90 min movie at about 5.5GB and 'low' at only 2.5GB. Is there any way for me to tweak this so i can get a setting somewhere in between?

2. Perhaps unrelated but i would like to control a few basic apps from windows ie Winamp (to use all my playlists) and DVD shrink etc. i only intend to have 4 icons on the desktop all maximised to be viewable on my TV but wish i could find software that enables me to use my Hauppauge PVR350 rmote with windows? uIRC does not seem to support the PVR350 remote - is it just me or has anyone got it working in a similair way??

You can edit the quality settings in the Config app. "Edit" you capture source, then edit the recording plugin, at the bottom you'll find a button to allow you to edit these attributes.

Sorry, I cant help you with the other question. It maybe the sort of thing that you could use Grider for (see http://girder.nl)

Just found a string that answered my first question, i adjust the settings in config>capture sources>Recording source.

I changed the Medium setting to 4000 which is about 2 gig/hr and IMHO is still good quality.

I just discoverd a very nice piece of software called TMPGEnc DVD Author by Pegasys Inc. It converts the files to vob format without re-encoding. It taks about 15 minutes to write the CD files to hard disk on an AMD 1500+ system. The editing feature is also very fast and very easy to use. It also has its own DVD writer so you don't have to load another program to write the disk.
