Hello, sorry for this long post, but this is bugging me!

I've been experiencing a crash in the recording service lately. The errors in the event view ended up with me getting to this MS page.
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=913384

In the article are both of the error messages I get when the service crashes.
As I dont know anything about programming, can anyone tell me (Sub?) if the service uses "user account context"
(the title of the article is "A .NET Framework 2.0 application that runs under a user account context when no user profile is associated with the user account context may crash")
If this is the case, then I'll contact the support centre to get the hotfix (it means contacting their support centre, and talks about support costs - which doesnt sound good!) (or is there another way to resolve this?)

As an aside, I have the service set to restart twice after crashing and then restart the PC after that. The service restarted 5 mins after the crash tonight, but the recording happening at the time did not restart as expected (Is this behaviour expected? - I thought it would have restarted and created a new file) - I missed Prison Break :-(

Thanks, and again sorry for the post length.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

No, just IE6.

I've not seen a single other reports of this.

Can you post the logs, and any entries in the Windows Event Viewer that relate to this.

Do you still run your recording service under the default 'localsystem' account, or have you changed it to run under a specific user account?

Do you use the web admin?

In task manager, the recording service is listed as beign run as user "SYSTEM" (Is that what you meant?)

Yeah. I hadnt used it last night when the crash happened - but on Friday morning I tried to use it to set something up as I was away for the weekend, and thats about the time the last crash happened (so I lost the service for the weekend)

I've attached the event viewer details, and the recording service logs from the time. I notice that in the logs that the recording appeared to restart, but no file was created. (let me know if you need all of the logs)

Also, what does the RecycleUSBUIRT setting do? (ie. would it have anything to do with post #30 here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14531&page=3 )

Thanks for your time.

I assume that my logs didnt yield any useful information as to why the recording did not continue?

I havent had any more crashes with the same issue anymore, so I'll have a look at home tonight, as I have now used the webadmin. (which may be a likely cause)

Thanks

I didnt see the logs when you first posted them.

I dont really know why you got this error, but considering the last message in your logs was about running ParallelProcessing.bat, I'm guessing the .NET framework as some problem running that batch file for some reason. No real clues why exactly. I've not seen any other reports of this error.

Oh well, it's not happening now. Might have been an error with gbpvrCLI.

It didnt crash after using the webadmin. Computer must have had a moment.

Thanks
