This is not a problem with gbpvr but thought someone might be able to help me.

The problem i have is that if i set my computer (asus p4p800 mobo) to wake on lan in the bios when i select the option to shutdown windows my system will restart within a few minutes of shuting down if i disconect my network cable the system does not restart. Could this be a problem with my router or onboard nic.

Many Thanks Jase.

Go to your network controller properties and make sure the "Only allow management stations to bring the computer out of standby." check box is checked. See below:

Yes, thats correct. That will mean you have to send a signal (magic packet) to the computer when you want it to wake up. It won't wake up if you just ping or anything like that, you're need a little program to wake it up. I have a little batch file on my laptop which I use to wake up my PVR when I want to access it to use the web interface to schedule recordings, etc.

Checking the Only allow management stations to bring the computer out of standby option doesnt make any difference, the funny thing is even the option to allow this device to bring the computer out of stanby was not checked so why its restarting i dont know i just know its some thing to do with this as my activity lights on my router flash just as my pc restarts.

Thanks for your help Jase

well try using a different router (switch) and see if that makes your computer reboot as well

Check the power options in your bios.
I had an option on mine to tell the PC to come out of sleep mode when it detects network activity.
this turned out to be any activity.
