Ooops, the zip file I attached was corrupted.
This one seems to work. It contains the logfiles before and after my try to empty the epg (which did not work completetly).

Sorry, Alex

Quote:After that I thought that there shouldn't be ANY scheduled recordings anymore (as was written in the warning that I had to confirm after pressing the "empty epg"-button).

But: there was still ONE scheduled recording. Obviously my tv guide is completely puzzled, perhaps anybody can find out, why? What can I do to flush the tvguide completely? I have not changed to sqlite yet.
It only deletes pending recordings that are part of a season recording, so this is normal.

Sub,

I am very sorry to bother you again, but I deeply hope that the probs that I'm actual having can be solved.

Beside the problem that some scheduled records do not start it isn't possible to cancel some scheduled recordings from the list. I receive either the error message: 'failed to communicate to the recording service' and the scheduled recording ist not cancelled - or (and that seems to be new) 'object reference not set to an instance of an object' but the scheduled recording is cancelled.

I checked the task list and recordingservice.exe still exists there.

Is it possible that a corrupted tvdata.xml file causes all these problems? That is the reason why I wanted to clear all epg data and feed gbpvr again with a freshly downloadad tvdata.xml. I would do a new installation of gbpvr but in this case I would loose all my recordings data  so I try to avoid this radical method as long as possible. Is there any possibility to remove ALL epg data from the database and to re-program it with a new tvdata.xml file?

Greetings and many thanks, Alex

It wont be the cause of your problem, but one thing I saw in your logs - you should disable the 'direct access to hauppauge remote' since this option is only compatible with PVR250 and PVR350 remotes. It can cause a few odd things if enabled with other devices.

Can reproduce this, then zip and attach the logs?

You'd need to remove all the capture sources, then recreate them.

I want to say that I really appreciate your fast and competent help.

My report:

*** After your last answer (yesterday evening, European time) I tried and everything worked fine:

- scheduling shows in the tv guide
- if the scheduling was done for an already running show, the recording started immediately
- cancelling shows
- if the cancelled show was already recording, the recording was aborted.

I tried this out several times and it always worked. I thought to myself: sub made it work!

*** But unfortunately today morning the problems occured again.

I did not change anything in the config so far in order to reproduce the problems exactly (I did not even uncheck the "direct access to the hauppauge remote"-option).

I managed to reproduce both error messages:

#1

In the tv guide i marked a show in order to record it (this show was already running) - the recording did not start (but was listed in the "recording soon" section). I tried to cancel it (i.e. to unmark it) in the tvguide and received this message

02.10.2006 06:51:22.218 VERBOSE [1] exception: GBPVR.Backend.Common.GbpvrException: Failed to communicate with the Recording Service.

...and the entry remained marked.

#2

I marked an other show in the tv guide (that should start in the future). Of course the recording did not start. But when I tried to cancel this show, I received this message

02.10.2006 06:52:00.171 ERROR [1] Error: msg=0x100 (WM_KEYDOWN) hwnd=0x301e8 wparam=0xd lparam=0x1 result=0x0 : System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

...and the entry was cancelled.

I hope you can help me. My next steps would be:

- uncheck this 'direct access to hauppauge remote'-option
- remove and reinstall all capture cards
- remove and reinstall gbpvr

You'd need to remove all the capture sources, then recreate them.

Will the data of the already recorded shows be lost if I do this?

Alex

PS: I attach all logs.

Latching on to this thread, I don't think I see a solution to the initial problem that the OP stated - that of a machine not waking up from hibernate (or standby) when a show is due to record.

I am experiencing the exact same symptoms as he stated, including the non-functioning recording service if I then wake up the PC manually.

I am using the latest and greatest version of gbpvr 0.98.8, downloaded on 29th September 2006. It was a clean install.

I have (per the 0.98.8 survival guide) excluded the recording service from NOD32's AMON settings.

Is there a fix for this problem?

Many thanks
Chris
