While my DVB EPG problems are being sorted out (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=20123) I've decided to have a play with the xml grabber - but I've got myself in a bit of a mess Sad
Q1 - because the dvbEPG and xml grabber name some of the channels differently I now have a BBC1 and a BBC ONE (and plenty of other examples) in the TV guide, both mapped to the same tuning request. Can I schedule a recording on either and expect it to work OK?
Q2 - I have two tuners, can I leave one on DVB EPG update and change one to the xml plugin (temporarily) and expect GBPVR to syncronise the data correctly?
Q3 - Do my scheduled recordings 'look' for the channel name, or the tuning request? i.e. if the DVBEPG data is missing on BBC1, will the scheduler still record the show on BBC ONE via the xml EPG data?

Obviously the best option would be to wipe all my (DVBEPG) capture sources and start afresh with the XML grabber, but I've got loads of scheduled recordings that I realy don't want to have to setup again.
So Q4 is: Is there a way to export pending/scheduled recordings and be able to reimport them again after I've changed EPG data source (possibly also having to account for the channel name differences)?

Or I could just wait and see if the DVBEPG gets fixed..... (whoever said patience was a virtue never had to fear about the girlfriend missing an episode of Robin Hood Big Grin )

They're only treated as the same channel if the name is exactly the same.

No, see comment above about channel name needing to be exactly the same.

channel name

No.

In general its not a good idea to mix the DVB EPG with XMLTV. I'd start again from a clean database if you needed to switch.

hmm. Probably advice worth heeding. Might have to power up my analogue export device then (pencil and paper...)

Something fishy is definately going on...
I've now cleaned everything out (right down to a clean GBPVR install because the channel logo tool kept hanging on to channels, even though the capture sources had been deleted) and swapped over to the xml grabber. Most of the channels now have data but I'm STILL not getting EPG data for a couple of them.
ITV is the obvious one to focus on because it was not getting DVB data previously and I've opened up the data.xml file and the info is in there - but GBPVR does not seem to want to import it into the guide. (and it's putting it into a 'no EPG zone' still rather than in channel order). The other is UKTV history, which was OK using DVB  .

Hi,

I am wondering if you found a fix for your issue? I'm having the same problem in Canada. I switched over to xmltv and it works fine except 2 channels (one of which is History Channel) don't show up in GBPVR. They do have listings in my xml file, however.

Many thanks.

Never mind, I figured out what was going on. My xmltv .conf file was incorrect. The channel #s were listed, but the text name was not correct (some channels changed location here recently). I looked at the listings for my region at zap2it.com and changed the conf file to match the channel text names on the zap2it site. I cleared and reloaded my EPG and all is well again!
