I know GB-PVR "downloads" EPG data from the DVB signal just fine but the problem is that not all channels broadcast EPG (and some have really bad EPG). So I was wondering if any one is aware of software to get the EPG data from the DVB stream and save it on as XML or something. I could then grab the missing channels with TVxb and join the data and get a complete EPG.

i do it exact the other way - most of the channels i grab via xmltv and the rest with the gbpvr dvb grab ...

i just have two recordings sources configured - one which gets its epg data from the xml file and the other
one grabs it from the dvb stream.

Is the tvxb information also incomplete, then?

i think tsreader can save the epg info in xmltv format, but it might only be the full version that can do this

It's pretty much ok, it's just not as precise. In the EPG shows have defined start and end times (which on some channels leaves a legit gap between shows) whereas xmltv data only finds the start time (for my channels) and thus programs are back to back.
