IRCommand2 from WDPS Software requires an IR Blaster (I use USB-UIRT) with a learning facility.

Sorry to be Pedantic but just to make sure i understand this.

I Have an old Toshiba IR Receiver made for MCE2005, is that no good?

The USB-UIRT is special because it has a learning mode how does that work?

I assume and hope that in conjunction with IRcommand you can train the software to take your IR button presses (from any remote) and you have some sort of table to change these to what ever you want?
In all the software I have looked at you have to have plugins for the software you want to control - Is this the same or is there a way to interface with windows somehow or what? this I dont understand very well :eek:

Oh did you get your USB-UIRT from the states?

thanks a lot

Have a look at IR Server. There is a thread here about it. I use it with an MCE IR receiver to control GBPVR and more. It can do macros, key presses, and more.

nah, that thread describes a way to get an original mce remote to work without any software added...not other remotes..
for other remotes i just use HIP and alternate driver with my mce dongle....
and yes, mce dongle has 'learning' capability..

couldn't you just send a 'power on' cmd every 7 hours to keep it awake?
powering on before recording may take a while and miss beginning of show..
or a scheduled task that wakes it up beforehand..
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie
