UK Freeview tuning and EPG problems

I live in Southern England and get my Freeview signal from Crystal Palace with a good signal that my TV tunes with no problem. Previous versions of GB-PVR worked OK, as does Pinnacle MediaCenter (it's still awful software though so I'm sticking with GB-PVR!) Here's what happens:
New capture source - BDA plugin - DVB EPG - No Channel Changer. Set the Device type to Pinnacle DBV-T 200e BDA, Southern England, Crystal Palace. Click Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels, start a scan. The channels found Are mostly TV, with many radio channels (e.g. BBC Radio 1,2,3 and 4) all missing when the scan ends. There are a lot of duplicates (e.g. "BBC ONE" and "BBC ONE(1) #2"; the duplicates have picture but no sound.) I tick all the boxes for the channels I want (getting depressed that so many are missing), and click OK. Answer "yes" to the EPG question, and wait. Once it's done and I go back to the "Edit Recording Source" dialogue, the channels are listed , ticked as enabled, but not all of them have the "Tuning Request" details. Also, since applying the patches Sub published on other threads for gappy DVB EPGs, the list in this dialogue now contains the names of all the Freeview channels the scan didn't find! No "Tuning Request" data of course. Finish config, start GB-PVR and there's no telling how much EPG data will be present - it's better since applying the patches, but not perfect. Updating the EPG helps (not from right clicking the tray icon - it freezes after a few seconds - I do it via config) but it's never full and I'm still missing loads of channels.

The channels found Are mostly TV, with many radio channels (e.g. BBC Radio 1,2,3 and 4) all missing when the scan ends.

There is no DVB Radio support in GB-PVR, so you shouldnt be surprised that radio are not shown.

There are a lot of duplicates (e.g. "BBC ONE" and "BBC ONE(1) #2"; the duplicates have picture but no sound.)

This is actually normal. These are secondary audio streams. If you list long enough on those, you'll actually hear some sound. From memory these secondary audio streams are for the hearing impaired or visually impaired or something similar.

So what channels are missing exactly? Your logs seem to indicate it finds quite a few, but I'm not that familiar with the channels you get, so I wouldnt be aware of those ones that are missing. From the list below, which channels are missing? The names are at the end of the line.

In that other thread, I'm still waiting for any UK based user to supply me a sample transport stream file so I can look into it.

That looks like you're getting all the channels to me. Some of the channels only broadcast at certain times of the day so it depends on what time you do your scan on whether you'll pick them up.

You won't be able to view the Topup Tv subscription channels using GB-PVR as afaik there is no card support, but you're not missing much

(I've been off the PVR scene for a few months). Would you consider supporting radio channels again?

As Cyb says, I think the TV channels that are missing are either not being transmitted or are subscription channels which I don't want anyway. However, it makes it difficult to get all the channels tuned in as not all are broadcast at the same time - are subsequent scans additive?

Ill be pleased to help with the sample transport stream - Ill do it on the other thread when Ive found out how.

I've never included support for DVB radio, but I do intend to some time in the future. I seem to remember the scanner used to list radio stations, but it wasnt intentional so somewhere along the way got "fixed". When I implement DVB radio support they'll return.

Yes, so just do a scan in the morning and one in the evening and you'll be sorted. We dont have any channels like this here in NZ, so its not a scenario I can easily test to correct.
