I am having a problem with the recording service in that the machine will not standby (set for 5 minutes) when running.

I had this previously and set the service to manual startup and then started it manually after boot was complete. This, strangely, fixed it for a while but now whenever the service is running is doesn't go to sleep. I have no pending recordings for the near future (1 day away) and the EPG update is at 5 AM. Can I wiew a list of GBPVR wake up times or know when it is preventing standby?

Any ideas welcome.

I haven't had this problem but you could try hibernator or winOFF both will overcome this problem. Hibernator allows you to check the cpu usage when idle and then set it to hibernate or suspend after a set time. This I found is much more reliable than windows method of detection.

Thanks,

I have grabbed WinOFF which looks pretty good, so I will give it a go in tandem with the Windows way.

I am not sure that this is ideal though as some processes such as checking mail may spike every every time they check causing the utilitie's timer to reset, preventing standby.

I will give it a go for a while and see what happens. Thanks for the pointers to the utilities.
