I thought this was just a quirk on one file, so ignored it the first time, but it happened again so I'm a bit confused about it.

I downloaded and transcoded an H264 (MP4) file to MPEG2 (MP2 Audio) and imported the file into GBPVR.

It plays back fine over the MVP, audio etc,. in sync, but when I press Skip or FF on the remote it goes backwards (rather than the forwards I expect). I didn't run it through comskip.

Why would it do this? Seems isolated to imported files. Native records are OK.

This is typically a sign that the file its trying to play has screwy PTS timestamps, which GB-PVR uses for determining the duration and for skipping.

Its likely that whatever you're using to do the conversion is doing a bad job with the timestamps.

OK thanks. I used ffmpeg with GUI4FFMPEG. Presumably the fellow will know what PTS timestamps means?

I also see there's a bit of a thread on it, some said install the HCW Timestamp Drivers, some say .NET 2 Repair install, not all appear to be resolved. You observed in that thread that you would not be surprised to observe this on the MVP (which I am using).

I've seen posts where mencoder was said to do a better job on timestamps with that kind of video. You might want to try Super it's a front-end for ffmpeg and mencoder. It works quite nice.

Thanks, yes I tried that on my H264 files, it didn't work for me unfortunately  . Also seems to require a fast system, which I do not have :-)
