There are quite a few programs and utilities available on the web which can split the audio/video from a VOB file.

. That's the real kicker, and the reason that Linux multimedia apps will (eventually) be able to do alot more things reliably than equivalent Windows apps can. They can modify any and everything they want to, down to the source code for the codecs and DVD player themselves. And they can distribute it as such, as source code, without getting sued
