I have v0.98.13b and I've noticed that when recording from s-video source using the Hauppauge PVR150 I can't have any audio bitrate lower than 192kbps. If I attempt to set it below that the mpeg file ends up with 384kbps for the audio bitrate. It seems any setting below 192 is ignored. I also don't see any way of setting mono audio to save space compared to stereo audio. Can anyone explain the bitrate problem? If I need to provide more info let me know.

I'm not sure what range the Hauppauge devices will accept, but this may be outside that range. You might fine the following message in your GBPVRRecordingService.exe-native.log after the recording starts:

"Error setting Audio Bit Rate"

Ok. I changed my setting to 96kbps and attempted a recording and saw the mesg you said might be there. So I guess I don't have the hardware to go lower than 192kps which sucks since audio takes up so much space (almost half) compared to video (@ 8Mbps). Is there any way to record mono audio so I can reduce the audio data by half? Btw, great program.

You can set ForceMono=1 in direct.ini, but I really dont know why you'd bother though. The sound data represents a quite small proportion of a recording.

How can it take up so little space when, for example, you use a 44.1khz sampling rate at 16 bits with 2 channels you end up with 1411kbps which is 18% of video if using 8000kbps for a video bitrate. For every 100 megs of video I'd have close to 20 megs of audio data. I can't tell what gbpvr is using for bitrate (direct.ini just has a value of 11 for that, whatever that means) but I did set ForceMono=1, thanks.
