haup. pvr-250 hardware encoder

GBPVR doesn't seem to recognize the hardware encoder on my hauppauge wintv pvr 250 (v.16). How can I get it to recognize it?

What do you mean by "recognize"? All you should have to do is to install the drivers, and select pvr-250 in the config app when you configure your capture source...

The hardware encoder is always used on a PVR250.

Based on mistakes others have made in the past, I'm guessing you were expecting to see it in the Hardware Decoder dropdown list (where you currently see XCard, PVR350)? This setting is for hardware DEcoders. You PVR250 has a hardware ENcoder. Big difference - one is used during recording, the other during playback.
