Hardware Acceleration on Playback - NZ DVB-T

Hi everyone,

I have been going round and round in circles and spent ages trying to solve this problem. I am running a bare HTPC running XP sp3, 3GB Ram, 9600GT 1GB video card and a Hauppage Nova -500TD.

I have cyberlink PowerDVD 10 installed and when playing TS files in there from the recording my CPU usage is only like 25%. When I run the same through GBPVR my usage is like 65-75%. I have tried various codec settings for Mpeg Playback and also H.264 codec. I think the files are H.264 but the cyberlink option i have under H.264 gives me no Hardware acceleration option just SAW, DXVA and HAW which i dont know what they mean. Tried various options but nothing brings CPU usage down.

Help please??

older versions of cyberlink let you use their decoder properly i think

Yes I think that is probably the issue. If you machine is big enough, you could look at installing Windows 7 and using it's codecs (which gbpvr will be able to access). Your other option maybe arcsofts total media encoder which I believe will also work.

Thanks for you reply's. Here is an update. Got a hold of powerDVD8 and CPU usage is now reduced which is fantastic. The only problem I have now is that I get gittering when i play back my recordings. I am assuming because it is DVB-T it h.264 so my Advanced codecs are as follows:
H.264 Codec = Cyberlink h.264 with DXVA on
AAC Decoder = Cyberlink Audio Decoder
HE-AAC = Monogram AAC Decoder
E-AAC = System Default

if you play it back in power dvd itself is the picture any different ?

Just tried a piece where it was gittering in GBPVR and in PowerDVD no gittering. I just dont get whats happening?

try forcing bob deinterlacing
