Is there a simple way to display DVD info before playing starts? Info like what the story of the movie is and also nice will be a picture from the cover.

In the meanwhile discovered that the videoarchieve plugin has this future but does not work for now with an GBPVR server/client setup.

Is there someone who knows an other way?

No one? Maybe there is a plugin to start to display info like that?

The latest release (31 December 2006) of the VA plug-in supports running on a client.

Is it easy to setup on my client and server? Do I have to follow some installation steps?

It is the same as setting it up on the server. The steps are (sort of) documented on the wiki site in the release log for the most recent release.
