Hi,

Does anyone know whether or not the volume buttons on a Media MVP Remote Control are supported using GB-PVR as they do not seem to be doing anything other than causing the occasional reboot of MVP.

Thank you Smile.

Yes, they do work, but it doesnt display any OSD graphics since I have no way of knowing what volume the MVP is at (I can only tell it to turn the volume up or down, not a specific value).

Hi Sub:

How is it that Hauppauge seems to "know." In their software you get an OSD when using the volume buttons (or at least one used to).

Is this something that is impossible to reverse engineer?

Also, could you make the MVP mute button work? Thanks.

This info isnt made available across the network, so its not possible for GB-PVR to know. The Hauppauge MVP software displays it on the MVP side, so no use to GB-PVR.

So this is part of the dongle.bin?

And forgive my ignorance, but why does GB-PVR need to "know" what volume the MVP is set for?

It seems GB-PVR should indeed NOT know this information but rather that such info remain with each individual playback device (at least until such devices are reinitialized).

Have you made any progress whatsoever on Hauppauge giving you more information on the innards of the MVP? Is there anything we can do to get them to open up to you? Do you have a specific contact person to whom we could each wrie in support of your efforts?

yes

If I dont know what the volume is, I cant draw a little volume graphic showing the current volume...which is how we've ended up where we are.

No, but I also havnt asked them for any info. To be honest, I'm generally pretty happy with there current protocol, and I understand it pretty well, there is only a couple of very minor things like this, but it doesnt really bother me if I cant show a volume graphic on the MVP.
