Yes it is, but I have seen things about the specific IR encoding methods etc. maybe not working with a Consumer electronic device. I will play around this weekend and report back, unless someone has a definitive answer before that.

I havnt heard of problems like that, I think people have used the harmony remotes with the hauppauge receiver, so that makes me lean towards it should be fine

I can't remember seeing a post saying it can not. I have a logitech harmony, works great.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

No probem learning Hauppauge remote codes with OFA 8910 - 9910 learning remotes.

I use an OFA 8910 (cost $20) that I program from the pc with a JP1 cable I made. It controls the lot - tv, dvd, cable, mvp, amp... google for jp1 forums for more info.
