Hi,

I am trying to get Gbpvr to work with my ATI all in wonder 128 pro card and someone told me I needed to use software recorder. Is there anyone out there that can walk me through the setup process?

Also, how much (if any) degradation will I experience by going this route instead of buying another card (such as the hauppage)? If I decide I like this software, will it be diffacult to add in a hauppage card as a second capture device later?

Thanks for your help. d:o)

There is probably a few people that have read your request, but there is very very few people that use this plugin, and the author is no longer here - so no one that supports it.

I've never even downloaded it, so cant answer any questions about it.

Its actually easier just to buy a supported card like Hauppauge PVR150, ATI 550 etc (sorry - harsh but true)

I used the plug-in after it was updated to .net 2.0 and it did work. It required a lot of saving and exiting to get the plugin recognized and configured. Drivers for my kworld cards only seemed to support one card (I have two installed), but it worked well as a second analog tuner. I have one of the original AIW cards laying around but never managed to get the plugin to work on it, and I understand that AIW cards are not easy to get configured under the software recorder. The picture will be as good as you can get with the native software, but CPU usage will be significantly more without the hardware encoder.

If the AIW is all you have and you have the time and patience to play, you can probably get it working using tips from the support thread. If you want something that works without a lot of effort, pop for a hauppage card right off. You won't be disappointed in the software.

I looked around the internet a couple times to see if I could get details on the ATI "Easy Share" software. I thought it would be nice to be able to connect to various "Easy Share" servers (I have 3 ATI tuner cards) and record shows in GB-PVR as the client, maybe using the External Recorder plug in. I have not found anything that would help me on that end.

Hi,

thanks.

I found, downloaded, and installed the plugin. However, when I tried to use it, next to the recording source I got "WDM Recording Plugin (broken plug-in load pass-through)".

that strikes me as a problem right there. Even it if doesn't like my card, at least the plugin should register properly.

Then, when I tried to use it, GBPVR froze immediately -- although the audio worked. I had to HARD reboot my machine because it TOTALLY locked -- the machine was still usable, but I could NOT end GBPVR.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The "broke" thing is correct, as I recall. Not clue on the rest; not even sure if it still works under the latest release.

Ok,

KUDOS to the writer of the soft recorder plugin -- SO FAR.

Setup was a breeze -- The README file tells you how to do it -- its a copy of what is posted on the WIKI page where you download it -- all you do is copy the files into the same directories in your gbpvr folder and restart gbpvr config -- and its there.

The hard part was determining what settings to use (the one that REALLY mattered was preview source and capture source -- had to be set to VP - none of the other settings worked)

AGAIN, kudos as now I get preview (LIVE TV) in GBPVR.

OK, now the problems.

I CANNOT RECORD ANYTHING. All I get is "recording failed".

I CANNOT get ANY on screen display.

I CANNOT get rid of the TITLE BAR. How is that supposed to be FULL SCREEN?

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
