Broadcast channel numbers?

Just set up GB-PVR for the first time (having used MCE for a few months) and am totally baffled about broadcast channel numbers.

I have the EPG (via XMLTV) working fine, channels all there, EPG is fully populated, but how do I tell the system which physical channel the station is being broadcast on?

The EPG has just numbered them from 0 in the same order XMLTV downloaded them, which bears no relation to the real world!

Been through the help, can't find any references to this.

Help!

Do you mean the the order they appear in the TV Guide?

If so, go to the Channels tab in Config and set the numbers there.

Cheers,

There is two different channel numbers to be aware of...

The channels tab has the channel numbers you want to enter to switch to that channel. ie, if you're use to MTV being channel 35, then you put 35 in the main channels tab in the config app.

If that MTV channel is usually transmitted on RF channel 42, then go into the capture source settings, and edit the channel number next to 'MTV' and set it to '42'.

I have been searching for a thread to cover my question, and this is the closest so far. I have an ATI HDTV Wonder and added all my channels manually (using another threads great instructions), and I named the channels the way I wanted, but I want to change the order they are displayed in the LiveTV or TVGuide displays. Is there any way to move the order around?
Thanks, Pete

You can do that by giving them the (rank)number you want in gbpvr-config-channels tab.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

HtV, Thanks, that did the thing. I saw the channel number, but just thought it had to do with what I type to jump to a channel using the remote, not the order that shows up in the TVGuide screen (which is really all I use). Regards, Pete
