PVR250 Remote vs. USB-UIRT? System recommendations.

About to commit to a PVR-150.

I have a home theater setup with DVD, VCR and DirecTV R15 STB (rear shot)

The distance between the computer and R15 about 25 feet.

Goal:
Control the R15 with GBPVR.
Play mp3's through Home Theater receiver.

Questions:

1. Will I require a MediaMVP for mp3 playback?
Or can the PVR-150 handle that?

2. The PVR comes with a remote/blaster.
Do I need a USB-UIRT to operate the R15?
