I'm a SageTV user but trying out nPVR. I've downloaded the most recent version (2.6.2).

I read that there is now built in support for USB-UIRT
(http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/...-PVR.shtml)

but I'm lost. When I setup my SA 8300 ((Hauppauge WinTV-7164 Analog Capture) and click on the Channel Changer setting, I can find no entry for USB-UIRT. I know that for Sage I have a directory called USB_UIRT Transceiver in SageTV/SageTV/Common/RemoteCodecs but there is no executable there.

I am so lost - I'm sorry if it's staring me in the face but I've searched for hours and can find nothing to help me - older postings say one has to use an external program to enable it but when I saw that support was now built in, I thought I would not have to.

When I use my remote to change the channel, the channel number changes onscreen along with the description of the program (from the epg listings) but no signal goes to the through the USB-UIRT to the box.

Please can someone help me - I'm so lost and confused that I have no idea what to try next.

thanks so much!!

Hi. I don't use an STB or blaster, but have searched the forum on your behalf and only found one detailed post in the last year regarding USB-UIRT. Unfortunately it's from version 2.5.9 days, but at least the analog device setup screenshot is more up-to-date than the Wiki: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post448015

I hope someone more familiar with this will reply. Fireworks are beginning to pop around here! [Edit] Martin definitely found the best thread, complete with files!

I think the issue is the link the OP is talking about was for GB-PVR's native support for various channel changers. In NextPVR it is more generic but it is described here by jksmurf http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post442390

Thank you both so so much! I now have it working - seeing the .dat file and the entry for the channel changer arguments helped so much.

Now I have to test during the night - I have an 8300HD box which "goes to sleep" every hour between 1 and 5 am (so helpful!) and needs a key press to wake up. In SageTV, I've been able to insert a long delay between key presses and channel changes which gives the box time to change properly. When the numbers are entered too quickly, sometimes only 2 of a 3 digit channel would register and then the final digit would follow by itself, so I'd end up on that final digit. I'm sure that's not at all clear! sorry.

Anyway, thank you again!

I'm having trouble getting this to work. The usb-uirt worked great on gbpvr but I'm having problems following the logic for NPVR. There's this thread and then the thread linked to above. This is on an XP machine.

I downloaded USBUIRTSend.zip. I created a new folder called ChanChg as C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg. I then unzipped the file into that folder and ended up with the following 3 files: USBUIRTSend.exe, USBUIRTLearn.exe and USBUIRTSetup.txt.

I then clicked on USBUIRTLearn and a command dialog box can up and invited me to learn the codes 0-9 + enter, which I did.

This created a new file in ChanChg called learnt.ir (which seemed to have the codes inside).

I then go to NPVR/Setting/Device Setup and drop the following lines into what I think is the appropriate place as follows:

Change: Executable
Executable: C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\USBUIRTSend.exe
Arguments: Here is where I'm not understanding. I've tried "C:\Program Files\NPVR\ChanChg\learnt.ir" {channel}, with and without quotes. I've tried too many variations to list here but none of them changed the channel including just {channel}

Can any kind soul help me understand what I'm clearly not understanding or even point me in another direction so I can get my usb-uirt to work with npvr.

Folks,

Probably not too much help, but my posts referred to above worked with a .dat file I generated with the (old) GBPVR which had a learning facility built-in. When I moved to NPVR I used the same .dat file. I did at one stage try to generate a new one using usbuirt's lrnhelper facility. What I can say is - that it did not work (the new learned .dat). The old one did. I never worked out why. There are other learning programs like the USBUIRTlearn.exe atatched to the zip file in the post referred to (direct link http://forums.gbpvr.com/attachment.php?a...1349046689), you may have more success learning with that.

See attached.

It looks like this are the right pronto codes in .ir format for an SA device based on an email I got from Jon.

To tune channel 123 I would try this at the command line.

uutx -r5 -s250 -f#1.ir 1,2,3

If you have multiple blasters you might need to try

uutx -d0 -r5 -s250 -f#1.ir 1,2,3
uutx -d1 -r5 -s250 -f#1.ir 1,2,3
uutx -d2 -r5 -s250 -f#1.ir 1,2,3

I assume you are running this on your SageTV box, maybe also try turning off the Sage server if it is locking the USB port.

Oh my gosh! That worked - thank you!!! I had never even thought of Sage causing a conflict so turned the SageTV server off. But it kept on working after I turned it back on. Now I'll trying reinstalling NextPVR and I guess I'd use uutx.exe as the blaster command? Thank you again so much!
