Hello,

Is there any way to have GB-PVR pick up the channel numbers from the SID when using DVB EPG Broadcast source? I am getting channels numbered sequentially starting from 1.

Also, I notice when scanning that every transponder is scanned - is it possible to specify which transponders should be scanned? With NA sats there are is usually 1 transponder that transmits the entire EPG.

PS. I am using latest GB-PVR v0.99.5 with twinhan 1020a hitting nimiq1 and nimiq2

BTW Thanks Sub for an excellent program.

Channel numbers arent actually part of the DVB spec. There are some custom extensions used by various operators around the world to carry this info, and they tend to have special firmware on these boxes to handle these extensions.

GB-PVR understandings a couple of these types of extensions, namely the channel numbers carried as a descriptor in the BAT table with Irdeto, and the channel numbers carried in the LCN descriptor of the NIT table for both Freeview and the Nordig compliant systems.

I have no idea what custom thing Dish or BEV are doing.

Thanks for the reply.

The channel numbers are stored in the SOURCE_CHANNEL_MAPPING in the field called "tuning request".

For example for the A&E Channel here is the info in the tuning request field:

T:12268,L,20000,78~NID:256~ONID:256~TSID:4~P:615~V:5410~A:5411~L:000~PMT:32~E:T~N:>A&E

The channel number is 615 and its the decimal value following the P:

I should be able to write a quick util to update this. Where is the best spot to put the channel number? Would it be the "channel_number" field of the CHANNEL table? I know this would seem to be the obvious location but you never know...

Thats not usually a channel number, but I suspose some networks may be using it that way. This is actually the service number, and can be duplicated at each frequency, so it wouldnt be a good idea for me to use that number for the channel number by default.

Yes, thats were its stored.

In the 15 or so channels I looked at this did correspond to the Channel number. I'll set it as the channel number and test it out and post back my results.

Plemen,
I've got the exact same setup. On 82 I think it is Transponder 1 for the 2 day epg, according to Lyngsat. It only worked twice for me. Now it crashes every time I try to update the EPG. Did you run into this? Any thoughts? I've emptied and rescanned a bunch of times. Same result.

I may just reinstall GBPVR and try emunation instead of vplug. I think vplug is half my problem.

I have nim1 and nim2 setup and have updated the EPG several times without any problems. My issue is that is that every single transponder is scanned when I believe we could get the EPG from just scanning one Transponder (not a gripe - it just takes longer).

Not sure what could be causing your problem though...

Emunation causes GB to crash. But agreed, vplug sucks. But the dvbn forum is the place to talk about such things...
