Hello,

I've searched the forums thoroughly, and read many useful threads about getting Nebula DigiTV to work with GB-PVR... but I still can't do it!

Some help would be very much appreciated. I only started using GB-PVR yesterday: it's mentioned in the review comments of the Hauppauge MediaMVP on Amazon.co.uk as a better alternative to the bundled software, so I thought I'd give it a try! Got everything working with my MediaMVP, so now I'm trying to get GB-PVR working with my Nebula DigiTV USB. Fantastic app, by the way!

I've been into the config and into "Capture Sources", and added a source with the following details:

Source Name: Nebula
Capture Source: BDA Recording Plugin
EPG Source: DVB EPG Broadcast
Channel Changer: No Channel Changer Required.

The settings of the BDA Recording Plugin are:
Device Type: Nebula DigiTV USB
Device Number: 1 (I've also tried 2, 3, etc.)
Country: Borders and Northern England (I've also tried 'All Regions')
Region Transmitter: Emley Moor (I've also tried 'All Channels')

If I click 'Update EPG', a small window 'Updating EPG' appears for a few seconds, but nothing happens or changes.

If I click 'Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels', I get a message saying 'GB-PVR was unable to start the BDA device you have configured. Check the device is properly configured, and not already in use'.

From the other threads that I've read, I have a feeling it might be an issue with mutliplexer filters. When I run the app, it says that none where found on my machine.

I originally had NVIDIA PureVideo decoders on my machine, and the tool recommends Cyberlink, Showshifter, or Intervideo. I uninstalled the NVIDIA decoders, and installed Cyberlink PowerDVD 6 that came with my graphics card. Ran the tool, still nothing found. Uninstalled PowerDVD 6, and installed PowerDVD 5 that came with my motherboard. Nothing found. Uninstalled that, and installed Intervideo WinDVD 8 trial, and still the BDA Mux Checker app said it couldn't find anything. Since Home Media Networks have just gone into liquidation, I have been unable to download Showshifter to try that.

Any suggestions?

I'm using GB-PVR 0.99.5, and the 0.504 USB BDA drivers from Nebula.

Thanks!
Steve.

Opps didnt read your post properly, try http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthr...t=bda+scan and run the program to see if it detects your usb tuner.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply!

I ran the suggested tool and the output is:

-----------------------
ScanChannelsBDA-UK starting
Build - v2.4.3.0
Checking for new BDA DVB-T Cards
No cards found

Could not find any BDA devices. Check that drivers are installed and that the TV tuner is connected to your PC.
-----------------------

So I went into Device Manager to check, and under 'Sound, Video, and Game Controllers' I can see 'Nebula DigiTV USB BDA' listed, driver version 0.5.0.4.

Following on from the above, I unplugged my Nebula DigiTV and plugged it into another USB port (can't believe I hadn't thought of this before!). It installed the drivers again, and now it is detected by GB-PVR (it shows up when 'Only Show Devices Detected in This Machine is selected').

The output from the tool is now:

-----------------------
ScanChannelsBDA-UK starting
Build - v2.4.3.0
Checking for new BDA DVB-T Cards
Tuner - Nebula DigiTV USB BDA Filter
@device: pnp:\\?\usb#vid_0547&pid_0201#5&269429fc&0&3#{71985f48-1ca1-11d3-9cc8-00c04f7971e0}\{19a6f553-848e-4d3e-bddb-d31da2053f48}

Finished Finding Demod and Capture filters
Finished Checking for new BDA DVB-T Cards
Found BDA device: Nebula DigiTV USB BDA Filter
-----------------------

But...

Clicking 'Update EPG' still doesn't do anything, and now when I select 'Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels', GB-PVR crashes.

Any suggestions?

I've installed .NET 1.1 and 3.0. I've read elsewhere that .NET 2.0 isn't needed if .NET 3.0 is installed.

I'll try installing .NET 2.0 and see what happens.

Installed .NET 2.0 (despite Windows saying it was already installed). No change.

After doing another search of the forums and reading some more threads, I downloaded and installed the trial of Cyberlink WinCinema 5. The BDA Mux Checker now says that I have two multiplexer filters installed:

- Cyberlink MPEG Muxer (MDMpgMux.ax) 5.0.1727
- Cyberlink MPEG Muxer (PCMDV_MpgMux.ax) 5.0.2221

I then selected 'Cyberlink' as the BDA Mux Filter on the 'Misc' tab of the GB-PVR config.

I tried 'Update EPG' again, no change.

I tried 'Map Digital Channels to EPG Channels' again, but the GB-PVR config still crashes.

Any more suggestions?

Success at last!

I deleted the capture source, created a new (identical) one, and it works! Didn't do anything else differently, but I can now watch live TV through my media mvp!

Thanks for the offer to look at the logs though, sub.

The channel scan only found about 75% of available channels (BBC3 and BBC4 are missing, for example) but I'm going to try and add these manually.

Anyway, now that I'm a GB-PVR user, I'll be a forum regular from now on, so see you all around!

Cool - glad you got it working.

I'm not familiar with the exact channels you get in the UK, but I should mention that the way the GB-PVR scan works means that your part-time channels that are not transmitting at the time you scan will not be found. You'll need to do an addition scan when those channels are airing to do the mapping for them.
