I recently installed a MSI Theater 550 Pro card, and I've been doing some trial and error with the settings. I have Intervideo WinDVR 3 and Cyberlink PowerDVD 6 installed on my PC. Last night I recorded 24 S6E2 and it looks phenomenal after I ripped it to DVD at Medium Quality (bit rate 4000, 6200 peak) compared to a AIW 9700 recording.

I'd like to be able to use Cyberlink when I'm watching timeshifted tv. Right now I can only use Interlink.

Your question is not very clear. What happens when you select the cyberlink decoder on the playback tab of the config app?

O_o are you talking about the aspect ratio being wrong while watching live tv? or are you talking about the video decoder that is used being different for TV and DVD?

if its aspect ratio, try pressing F7
if its the decoder selection, you can specify in the playback section of the config tool, and in the DVD section, make sure they are the same (it sounds like you want to make the one in the playback section match the one in the DVD section), and dont leave it as system default, specify the decoder discretely.

If I'm watching Live TV and I click the pause button, i get one frame, the Play buttons don't come up, and I also get the bar across the top that tells you where you are in the file. It's just frozen until i left click to back out of it and restart Live TV. Pressing F7 still gives a "fill" effect where if i stretch the window, the picture stretches too instead of resizing by 4:3

I can use VMR9 Custom Renderer, and that even allows me to turn on Hardware Acceleration. This setting actually gives the control buttons and text a cleaner look, an effect of the acceleration. However I lose the aspect ratio lock.

Apparently. I just tried the setup Cyberlink Video, Cyberlink Audio, and SB Audigy 4 (my sound card) on VMR9 with hardware acceleration turned on, and auto select for deinterlacing (bob or weave) and it seems to work, if a bit jumpy. I got it to work before, then it stopped working. I had to reboot to get this configuration to behave. And I have aspect ratio lock in windowed mode.

I did 2 things before I zipped this log: first, I started and paused Live TV using Intervideo Video & audio, that worked fine; then I switched to Cyberlink Video using VMR9 (or overlay, i'm not sure), started and paused live tv to create a freeze, then backed out to the menu and exited. I'm pretty sure the video was being cached, I just couldnt watch it for some reason.

I can record something and then ask to watch it while its being recorded (same concept, different implementation?); for some reason the timeshift doesnt work though. I can hear that it wants to work, but i only get an instant of audio before it locks.

Others seem to be having the same problem. i've got the catalyst 7.1 drivers on xp, and the wdm drivers for ati theater 550 pro released recently. the darn thing works, i just wish either cyberlink would work on timeshift, or there could be a way to fix the window aspect so i could use intervideo or VMR9. I'd even settle for setting a small/med/large size like 320x240 640x480 and sumtin else.

Is your D:\ drive a physical drive attached to your machine, or some network drive?

What exactly is the issue you're having with the aspect ratio? Does F7 cycle between the various aspect ratios? Note, GB-PVRs aspect ratio is designed to work when you're running GB-PVR fullscreen. It doesnt bother doing anything special when running in window mode since this is not expected to be the normal running mode.

I have tried gbpvr with ffdshw and cyberlink with vmr9. the pause live tv will not work in this configuration, i have to use vmr9 custom render, and that breaks the decoder's aspect ratio lock.

I understand that the primary mission of your software is to allow someone to build an excellent pvr around your software. I reserve hope that you institute a workaround for applying aspect ratio in windowed mode, since I use my Theater 550 to capture and burn to dvd, as my pc is in another room. The backround pvr is worlds better than my old windvr3 aiw radeon 9700 setup.

I have noticed that this has come up several times in the forums and on videohelp. What would you have to do to institute an aspect ratio lock on window, not fullscreen, so that those who want to watch tv on their pc in the back room can resize it easily?

I have two hard drives and four partitions. D is the largest partition.
