Pentium 3,1 gig ram....will be upgrading hard drive
I am trying to make my own "freevo" and I have a few questions.

I also dont have a microsoft windows media edition pc(I hope that doesent make a difference!)
The tuner I was looking at was the hauppage (sp*) PVR 150 I can get this card at my local frys electronics.

Basically once I buy this card and I install it into my extra pci slot plug the cable, how do I or what....

1.) hook up my tv to the computer
2.) will the card effect me from watching regular tv.....
3.) are there any drivers I will need to install once I get this for a non windows media pc.
4.) How do I get this wonderful program gbpvr to work with the card
5.) any issues with quality, if so what other card would you suggest...

Thanks again for all of your help so far!! I really appreciate it!

Welcome.

- You don't need MCE.

1. You will need to use the TV out on your graphics card if you want to watch on a TV.

2. No.

3. Yes, drivers here: http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/s...vr150.html

4. There is a very good step by step in the Wikki http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Quick...rceOptions

5. Many analogue users report good success with this card.
Core2-E2180, 1G RAM, 1Gb-5450 Silent, 2Tb +300g HDDs.
Three tuners: Twinhan DVB-T x 1, Hauppauge Nova 500T (dual)

DTB Digital SD + HD content (PAL-MPEG2-AC3).
Custom case made very quiet. Zalman CPU cooler.
Sits in rack with other HiFi.

I have a Hauppauge 150, regular computer, and the program works terrific. My son did the actual installing of the necessary hardware but I have taken over the maintenance of the program. I recommend starting with just the gbpvr program. Once you are used to how it works and the system is stable, then you can try the various plugins. I have as much fun seeing what options I want to add and how to go about it as I do watching the programs that I have recorded!

In deciding between the Hauppauge 150 and the higher models, the main difference I noticed is that I don't get FM radio (not an issue since I own a radio) and I can only record one show at a time (again, not an issue since I have a VCR backup for those days when everything I like seems to be on at the same time). From various comments I have read on the forum, I think you may be less susceptible to problems with the pvr 150 over the pvr 250 and higher because there is less to go wrong (i.e. timestamp issues). Then again, it's probably just "sour grapes" thinking on my part.

I did have an early problem with no sound on just 4 channels; however, when I went back to the Hauppauge site and downloaded the new drivers (the ones you will be downloading), the problem went away.
