I'm using win2k and the memory usage on 99.5 is really high. I start at about 100 meg and then after playing a few MP3's or navigating the menus the memory usage gradually climbs and peaks at about 350meg. I reinstalled gbpvr to see if that was anything and no change, still way up. Is this the expected memory usage? Time to buy another 512 if it is...

I did look into this after the last of your series of posts on the subject. The .net garbage collection can take a while to kick and cleanup the large chunk of memory used by the Windows Media Player control, so you could have several copies of it sitting around in memory waiting to be disposed of. If it causes problems for you, you could try setting <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio> in config.xml. It was the same in previous releases.

I'll add something to the next release to try to force garbage collection to occur sooner for this object, rather than relying on the defaults.

Thanks for looking into this. Sorry for the multiple posts..
I have been experimenting tonight and noticed that once in a while you will see 40-50 meg of memory release. Still the overall memory usage is very high and typically I will get the message that windows is increasing the virtual memory size. (which I ended up doing to stop the message). In addition the memory usage pretty much runs the physical memory down to 10-20 meg before it starts releasing memory. I'll try the setting you suggested. Thanks.

I did some reading on the .net garbage collection and the trigger to release memory is something like 24 meg of free memory. That's about what I see. Hopefully moving forward you will work some magic and find a way to coax it along.
Thanks again for checking this out.

I did add something yesterday that'll force it to do it earlier in the next release.
