This is really strange, as after I download certain videos from the GBVPR YouTube plugin, it plays fine, but when I copy the mpg file to Videos folder, it starts skipping badly (like fast forward) with high pitched audio.

It does the same horrible playback when I play it using WMP.

So the only time the videos play fine is from within the YouTube interface.

Is there ANY difference between the way GBPVR play from within YouTube, and from the Video Library?

(Note1: Very likely these videos are recorded froma PAL standard source and probably interlaced ..etc. Will this make a difference? It does not make a difference from within YouTube).

(Note2: I am using Radeon 7500 video card with CyberLink decoders.
I also tried the same thing on my massive laptop with nVidia graphics card. Same results).

(Note3: I even tried encoding using ffmpeg from the command line with different paramters as mp2 ...etc., noting helped).

Odd. I cant think of any difference between the two.

Can you zip and attach logs for both playback via the youtube screen, and then attempting to play via the Video Library?

Logs attached (Note that the horrible playback does not happen on all downloads, but certain downloads).

(I deleted my old logs so it starts fresh, then downloaded from YouTube plugin and it played fine, then went to Video Library and clicked the file and it played horrible (like really fast forward) then after it is done I could not go back to main menu so I forced GBPVR to close using Task Manager.

Usually I do not let the file play to the end from Video Library as the playback is horrible so I just ESCAPE it. But this time I left to play to the end, and it crashed GBPVR i.e. cannot go back to main menu).

ffmpeg -i "C:\VMR9.flv" -target dvd "C:\VMR9.mpg"

This one worked, but the file is SOO BIG Smile

Still this does not explain why YouTube plugin played the other encoding fine?? While Video Library screws up?? Weird.

I did notice one thing that may be the cause. The version of the Cyberlink decoder you're using is not compatible with the VMR9 video renderer you're using. You're options are to switch decoders, or switch video renderers (to Overlay), or to add the Cyberlink EnableVMR9=1 registry setting (do a forum search for details).

Thanks a lot sub.
The logs are from my laptop, so it uses non-ATI CyberLink codecs (I do not use this machine as HTPC).

The HTPC machine uses the ATI version of CyberLink to match Radeon 7500, that one is compatible with VMR9?? Right?? (I hope so).

BTW, doing the encoding this way:
ffmpeg -y -i "C:\VMR9.flv" "C:\VMR9.mpg"
make the file plays fine in WMP Smile

I guess I do not need to change the video bit rate? Do I?

BUT
I noticed now in my laptop GBPVR does not play the video correctly when I use the above encoding, even if I click 'Overlay Manager' instead of VMR9 in the 'Playback' tab.

How to know what WMP is using?
I am now totally confused Sad

Ok, switched to 'System Default' in the codecs in GBPVR and now it plays fine Smile

I will try the new encoding on my HTPC machine and see what happens.

BTW, where do I edit the line to use this encoding for YouTube:
ffmpeg -y -i "C:\VMR9.flv" "C:\VMR9.mpg"

Is it in the config.xml?

Found it, in config.xml Smile

Will try it, and I guess I need to go back and understand all this encoding mess, and all these renderers and overalys.

Thanks sub for the support.
Will let you know how it goes (I feel it is fixed already by editing the config.xml file).

Great - glad you made some significant progress on this one.

To be honest, I dont know. Most versions of the Cyberlink decoder require the EnableVMR9=1 setting to be added to the registry, but some third party apps that use these decoders have already added these settings.

You can edit the <YouTubeFFmpegTranscodeCmdLine> setting in config.xml.
