Hey all, I'm just wondering if it's possible to do this: I've got 2 computers, 1 I'm using for a regular PC and the other I'm using as a PVR with GBPVR installed on it. I notice that GBPVR has that feature where I can set up directories for music, video, pictures etc. Can I set up a wired ethernet local area network between the two computers and then play video/music on the PVR computer (a.k.a. my TV) that is actually hosted on the PC computer?

I've never really used local file sharing before so I don't know if this is possible through it or not.

this is definitely possible. What I would do (and do do) is to map a network drive. This means i would map Z:\ to be \\ComputerName\Folder which is the network. To do this just right click on my computer and click map network drive. Make sure sharing is enabled on the computer you're trying to connect to.

If you map a drive, make sure that you select the option to reconnect at logon. Although, you don't even need to map a drive, if you don't want. When browsing for media folders in Config, select My Network Places, and drill down to the other computer and shared folder— that's what I've done with my network.

Hi there,

You can also setup in GB's config one of your PC's to be the master and the other the slave.

That way anything on the main machine can be viewed on the other(the client). You can even view live TV that way (I haven't actually done this myself yet, but it's on the cards, I just need a wired network)

I use a UNC path to my recording location, ex \\media\gbpvr, from every machine so the path is always consistent. this helps especially in client mode.
