I keep getting an error "error: failure playing back file" when attempting to playback any video format

any advice would be great,

It would be better if you could post your logfiles, while attempting to playback a video. You`ll find them within the installationfolder of gb-pvr. Just zip them and post them here as attachement.

also It isn't generating logs

what was the last version that included gbpvr.exe the reason i ask it the system i am using won't run the newer version

1.2.9 from over two years ago was the last version that included GBPVR.exe.

You should try NPVR instead. It'll work on some machines that GBPVR couldnt work on.
