I've been using the GB-PVR with an PVR-150 and MediaMVP for a few weeks and have been really impressed. Things work very smooth and polished.
I just added an HVR-1600 (HD capture), and have it mostly working. All the analog capture and playback is working fine, and HD recording and playback on the PC seem to work OK (after a lot of trial and error with decoders and rendering).

The problem I have is I still can't play HD recordings on my MVP. The program is listed, but when I select the program, the TV screen goes black and sometimes resets the MVP.

I've tried playing the Z Process with no luck. Looking at the trans2MVP.exe-native.log file, I get:
14:47:24.578 INFO Log started
14:47:24.578 INFO TRANSCODING: E:\GB-PVR\ABCs World News With Charles Gibson\ABCs World News With Charles Gibson_20070314_18301900.dvr-ms

14:47:24.593 VERBOSE DVR-MS file type.
14:47:24.765 VERBOSE Using Hauppauge WinTV MPEG2 Muxer

Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks!

The MVP cant play HD video. It can only play standard definition content.

That said, I think if you'd been recording using the TS Mux instead of the DVR-MS mux, then you can probably get it to work by setting <MVPFFmpegTranscodeTS>-y -i "{SOURCE_FILE}" -f svcd {DEST_FILE}</MVPFFmpegTranscodeTS> in config.xml. This will tell it to automatically convert it to standard definition video during playback.

When I replaced the existing MVPFFmpegTranscodeTS tag as you recommended, the GBPVR crashed on startup. I tried putting {DEST_FILE} in quotes ("DEST_FILE"), but it made no difference.

Additionally, I am also unable to watch 'live' ATSC channels on the MediaMVP. Again, black screen for about 5 seconds, then returns to the main menu. I'm not really clear on how the ATSC data gets transcoded into MPEG2 for the MVP.

I've tried it with the TS Mux and the DVR-MS mux (which seems to work smoother when watching on the PC).

One other question on another topic- is it possible to re-label the channel designations? The on-screen guide cuts off some of the text so I can't tell my analog from my digital channels. The labels in the Configuration program seem to be fixed based on what Zap2It wants to call them.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I'm guessing you cocked something up and have broken the XML file.

You should make sure you edit it with a text only edit like notepad.exe. Other editor types (like write.exe or WordPad) can damage the XML file by putting funny characters in the file. This would cause GB-PVR to crash on startup, so I'm guessing this is what you've done.

You wont be able to get the MVP to watch ATSC channels live. The MVP is just not designed for watching these types of streams. The most you can hope for is playing back recordings made previously.
