Recently I've noticed either a dropped frame or a freeze frame about every 5 seconds watching video, tv etc on the PC running the gbpvr server. This is most noticable on 'tickertape' at the bottom of news channels. I've spent the last few days trying out various different codecs, mux's, video drivers, killing of resident processes etc etc.
Then it went away for no reason - then it came back. Then I realised it only did it when the MVP was sat idle at the main menu. When the MVP was off or playing something it was fine, but sat at the main menu, hiccups - and I noticed it was when the 'recording soon' was being updated.
I've run filemon and etherreal and there doesn't seem to be huge activity when this update happens.

Watching the same MPG file with VLC doesn't have the hiccups.

Any thoughts - or is there an entry in config.xml that stops the 'recording soon' as a tempy fix - I couldn't see anything in there, but was getting word-blind.

regards
Martin

A few other users have had the same problem in the past. Unfortunately generating MVP screens consumes quite a bit of CPU.

Things that help: Check you have <MvpHighPriority>false</MvpHighPriority> in config.xml. Leave MVP in standby when not in use. If you need to, you can remove the NextRecording panel from the skin you're using.

Thanks for that sub, I've changed the MVP high priority to false and will see how it performs when the rest of the household clears off.
I've only really been noticing it late at night when I'm in the shack and the hoard have turned the TV's off, but left the MVP's on.

I was sure I'd seen mention of this before, but my search skills with vbulletin seem to be lacking Wink If worse comes to worse I'll take courage and try to tweak the blue skin and turn it off.

thanks again
Martin
