I can install GBPVR fine in Vista. It works very well.

My problems start when I attempt to apply your updates from the survival guide. I coppied the new GBPVRRecordingService.exe file into my devnz/gbpvr directory. I then recorded a couple of shows. I could watch the recordings just fine.
Then I tried to delete one of the recordings that I made after the update to the recordingservice.exe. The recording wasn't removed from GBPVR.

I found this in the gbpvr.exe.log:

2007-03-19 10:45:24.033 VERBOSE [1] RecordingFactor.DeleteSheduledRecording()
2007-03-19 10:45:24.517 VERBOSE [1] Removing additional file: C:\Users\Tyler\TV Recordings\What About Brian\What About Brian_20070319_22022300.mpg
2007-03-19 10:45:24.517 VERBOSE [1] Unabled to remove recording file (C:\Users\Tyler\TV Recordings\What About Brian\What About Brian_20070319_22022300.mpg)...leaving recording in place

If I do not attempt to delete the program from within GBPVR I can delete the recording through the Windows Explorer. But, if I have already attempted to delete the recording in GBPVR I can't delete it using the Windows Explorer. The strange thing to me is that the recording I have tried to delete in GBPVR will be removed, at least the .mpg file) once I restart Vista.

For now I just won't update any GBPVR files.
This is most likely a Vista permissions issue, but I thought the good folks here might be able to help me.

So, I have reinstalled and that doesn't seem to solve my problem now.

Does anyone have an idea of what I may need to do?

I am beginning to hate Vista at this point. And it is probably something small and minor I need to do to fix this problem.

OK, so maybe I have figured this out. If I install GBPVR as an administrator it seems to act fine.

To make sure I was an administrator when I installed GBPVR I opened a command window as an administrator. I did this by right clicking on the command window icon and selected "run as administrator". Then in the command window I went to where I had downloaded the GBPVR installer and ran it. I coppied all of the GBPVR updated from the survival guide and so far so good.

I'll let you know if I find out anything else.

I feel your pain! Vista can be (is) a PIA quite often.

Another thing that might be helpful is to rt click all the exe's and click on the compatibility mode and make it XP SP2 compatible.

Mine seems to run fine now.
C2Duo E8400, 4GB, GE8600GT, PCH A-100, HVR2200, NPVR 1.5.31, Win 7 x64.
