Changing channels - external command?

Okay, this one might be really pushing it. I've found that my DTV Phase III satellite is useless for FTA. you can't decode DTV streams because they are DSS, not DVB. (No, i wasn't planning on breaking the law )

So, I decided to just use a DTV receiver. The cool thing about the receiver is that you can change the channel with a serial cable.

Is there a module, plugin, or some other facility that I can employ with GBPVR to call an external command when I change channels? This would be idea for being able to use GBPVR and stick my DTV receiver in a closet somewhere.

If there is no way out of the box, I am willing to work with the developers on something. I have numerous years of programming experience. But, I can get into what I've done/can do if someone is interested.

You can set your capture source's 'channel changer' to the '.exe channel changer' option and specify whatever options you want.
