I am trying to make a rather odd configuration.... I have a GBPVR computer running in site A, and two other sites (two friends) would be running GBPVR in client mode. Is it then possible to have those client computers running mvp servers? I cannot have the main sight run the servers because it is on another subnet. The construction of this would look like this:

Site A ----Wireless Hop ---- Site B
Wireless Hop
Site C

Thanks,

Matt

Somebody was starting to write a utility that would allow for a "remote client" that you could share with your friends, but then I think he gave up on it. The alpha version is on the Wiki - it's called xshare. http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/XShare

I think I got it to work on my LAN, but the real issue is getting something like that to work over broadband. I know you could have them log into EWA and stream that way (using VLC, I believe).

Yeah, I was really hoping that the client system would work... BTW it is not broadband, it is site-to-site wireless. We have 50mb of reliable bandwidth between us! I will try with the suggestion, thanks.

Sub... Any future plans? Wink

Couldn't you create a virtual network that all 3 of you use? A GBPVR network, with the server as the outbount gateway. All you'd need is an extra nic for your server, then your wireless router, and your friends connect their clients over the network.

Site A network
GBPRV server ------wireless----- GBPVR client B ----Site B network
(site A)
wireless
GBPVR client C
site C network

That's kind of what I am wanting to do... What I was wanting to know is if the client PC can host mvp's. FYI, it should not matter, but our wireless hops are 10-20 miles in length, and other functionality will have to operate over these hops, like our internet connection and IP telephone system.

Okay, so client B has a MediaMVP on his private network and wants to connect to the GBPVR server on A?

Just thinking about this either a couple of wirless bridges ( or equiv ) or if wireless is an issue why not VPN accross the net.

XP supports it out of the box so does 2K Advanced.
