When playing a video via the Video Library, the OSD description area is currently unused (empty). While video playback from the Recordings panel has access to the description that's stored in the GB-PVR database, clearly, when playing a video library item, GB-PVR has no equivalent source for the description (and I see that it would be a complex endeavour to support capturing this kind of info into the database).
A simple solution might be for the GB-PVR video player to read the description for the current video from a file (if the description is not available in the database) before playing the video. It could look for a file in the same directory, with the same name as the video file but with a different extension (.desc?) and, if found, read the description text from the file for OSD use. (Similar to what many video players do for subtitles - using an .srt file if its present).
I mainly use the Video Library for movies and I'd be happy to manually create the description files by copying text from IMDB (or write a simple utility to automate it).
If the neccessary OSD "lookaside" logic was added to GB-PVR, there might even be other uses for it.
