Hi All,

I'm struggling to get my remote working properly. I have a Hauppauge Nova T 500 with the 45 button remote. I've installed everything (winTv) etc and the remote software ir.exe. I clicked the fix 45 button remote thing in GBPVR config and restarted ir. I have removed the ir.exe from the startup and added the GRNPOWER line into irremote.ini but can't get the darned thing to work!

I have fiddled extensively to try and get this working including removing all references to Media Center or MCE in the irremote.ini file. (The base XP is an MCE build...I have disabled the eh* stuff to stop MCE from running) . The GO button used to start Media Center but does nothing right at this moment, the green power button sends my machine to standby and when in GBPVR, most of the buttons don't seem to do anything. Once I select to watch live TV, I can't seem to go back and do anything and am stuck watching TV!

HELP!

Thanks

Yes, I read that and even cut/pasted the whole config into the irremote.ini file over the top of my default section.

I think that MCE is messing me up somewhere. :-(

yea, when the new irremote software is installed, it also updates the registry to add the hauppauge remote to the supported MCE remotes list...

found it..go into device manager and look at the properties and determine your remote's hw_ID [look in details tab at hardware id's] and search registry for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Remote Controls and remove it from that list...[export key to file just to be sure and have backup]

if you manually install the ir driver without installing the windows update, i think it will work as usual without adding to the registry..[ymmv]

i got that also when i installed a new hvr1600 in MCE..but i seem to have no problems with gbpvr, just the green button..

btw,did you hit the 'fix hauppauge 45 buttton remote' button in config? u should..Smile

Thanks all. Seems good now although sometimes the green button makes the machine go to standby and other times, starts up GBPVR. Mostly it starts GBPVR. I had to redo everything (reinstall all hauppauge stuff) do the fix button remote, paste in the 'default' section from one of theposts on this forum, add the grnpower line from the posts on this forum and delete the reg entry! Got there in the end!

How would I change it around so that the home button starts (and closes ?) GBPVR and the green power button makes the machine standby?

Thanks for all the help so far.

Cheers

that's not really recommended as lot of functions use the 'go'/home button in gbpvr.....
assign the system plugin as the default power plugin in config.xml, then when you hit the green button it will bring you to system screen where you can suspend..
[or hibernate/turn off etc..]

also, make sure no action is selected in control panel/power for 'when i hit power button' do xxxxx...[select 'do nothing'] or was it the sleep button..do both..
