If you decide that your signal might be a problem go here, select your transmitter and you'll find info about your normal signal strength along with any current problems...

Nice link. I managed to find all sorts of info on the web. Being 25 miles from Crystal Palace a roof aerial is reccomended. But being tight I persevered with my loft aerial - replaced the cable with sat grade, made small adjustments to the height and angle - and now I get all the UK Freeview channels perfectly.

Glad to hear that. Keep the link though - any time you get quality problems, it's always worth checking your transmitter status before you start tampering with your machine settings.

Could that be the quartz.dll problem from DirectX 9.0c? After a rebuild I still have to drop back to the 9.0b dll for smooth video playback.

I have exactly the same problem as the OP (see first post). The video freezes for a second or two at various times.
