Hi,
I`ve decided to upgrade from my USB DVB-T and buy a PCI Twin tunner for use in the UK.

Anybody got any recommedations that work well GBPVR.

Also If I remember rightly (I`m in work at the mo) GBPVR supports 2 cards for hardware video decoding, are these much better than software decoding or is it they just use less cpu.
I been having problems with decoding software latley just wondering if these cards would resolve it too

Thanks

Not sure what you mean with hardware or software video decoding?
DVB-T is digital transmission so there is no difference between encoding, unlike analogue where only hardware encoding is supported by sub (although there is the unsupported software encoder). The only read software decoder that I'm aware of is the (only just supported) PVR350 that has hardware mpeg decoding onboard.

To be honest, I wouldnt bother with either of those devices. These days I'd just use a modern video card with decent hardware acceleration.

(BTW, those old hardware decoder devices are no longer supported in the new interface)

I just moved house and have been useing a USB DVB-T stick for the last couple of weeks. There are not many dual DVB-T tuners about but I have just ordered a Hauppauge Nova T 500. Hopefully I will have it installed over the coming weekend - I can tell you how I get on then.

i have been using a nova-t 500 pci card for a while now and it works very well. I would recommend you get the latest drivers from

http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/pages/support...vista.html

the dvb cards receive the digital signal and gbpvr writes it to the disk without having to ENcode it, like analogue tuners with a hardware encoder have (such as the pvr-150/350).

Your chosen software DEcoder such as purevideo, cyberlink, dscaler5, mvp) convert the recording on disk into a video and audio siganl and send them to your video and audio devices.

Your video card will hopefully have some hardware built in that can assist with the decoding process, depending on the card, decoder and settings.
