I have just installed GB-PVR for the first time (v1.0.8) and am having trouble getting my PC to wake up from standby to recorded scheduled programs. I have checked that the PC does wake up for Windows Scheduled Tasks successfully. I have not been able to find a solution to this problem in the forum.

Please can someone point me in the right direction for troubleshooting this?

Thanks
Steve

I had issues with standby before because the computer would wake up, and then the remote didn't work right.

What I did was set the computer go into hibernate at 4am, and then wakeup at 4pm. So it is in hibernate for the time when I am not using it. Typically I don't record anything durring those times either. Just a suggestion since the hibernate is more power savings than standby.

I know this didn't really answer your question, but just giving another option.

I recall reading one problem whereby if you schedule a recording to start in a few mins time (as a test) and put the pc into standby manually, it doesn;t wake up. I mention this just in case this is what you are doing.

btw: I don;t want to take SF123's post off topic at all but if you are using the hauppague remote, you need to restart ir.exe when the pc wakes up.

Try going into config and changing the prepadding minutes from one value to another e.g. 5 -> 10mins. exit config. set a program to record at least 15 minutes from the current time and then manually set the machine to standby.

It worked for me!

Windows Standby/hibernate is really strange.
My computer wont wake up to record if I manually send it to standby, but will wake up if let it go into standby by itself. Theres a lot of information about fixing problems with standby/hibernate if you google it.

I just posted about this type of problem in another thread (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=28314). If you have time you might like to try the earlier version (99.5) I mention to see if that cures the same standby problem I am seeing.

I found a utility called MST ( http://www.xs4all.nl/~hveijk/mst/indexe.htm )
it's and MCE stanby tool which seemed to help with my standby / wakeup problems.

Even though this is for MCE, it works on XP as well (not sure about W2K or Vista, might have to check their site)

I fought with this for months! Finally I just gave up and leave the PC on 24/7. It hasn't had any problems, but one of these days I'll try to find a quieter fan!
