I have been using this software to make time lapse movies with my webcam. It works great but does not have any audio capabilities.

Does anyone know how to add an audio track to an AVI file?

Something free or cheap with a GUI would be ideal.

With an avi, virtualdub is the simplest method.
If you've never used virtualdub, it can be daunting, but the procedure is quite straightforward.
Make your audio track into a .wav with any audio editor. I use Goldwave.
Open your video in vdub.
Select Audio, WAV audio, and browse for your file.
Now select Video, direct stream copy. This avoids re-encoding the video.
Click File, Save as avi.

Windows movie maker will re-encode everything into a .wmv, which you may not want.
You can never have enough tuners!
