Hey there guys,

I recently added a Sapphire 550pro capture card to my HTPC that was already using a PVR150 nicely.

However, it seems that when using the 550Pro to watch liveTV, I don't get any sound. Picture is fine. I'm using the Intervideo non-CSS Hauppauge audio decoder.

I wouldn't think this decoder would be hardware specific (hauppauge only) is it?

When I switched to AC3 decoder, the 550pro works - but now my new MVP sound doesn't work. lol.

I've tried every option in my GBPVR config: Intervideo non-CSS, Nvidia, AC3, Nero, and MPG Audio Decoder (no idea what this is). I have Cyberlink decoders installed, but they aren't listed.

Any suggested audio decoder that will work with everything?

Thanks!

The MVP sound shouldnt have been affected by installing any extra decoders on the PC. Are you positive about this? Where you trying to play .mpg files recorded by your 550 Pro when this lack of audio on the MVP occurred, or videos from some other source?

The only reason I can think of that would give lack of audio on the MVP is if you tried playing a video file that had either a AC3 or PCM sound track, but the recordings from your 550 pro should have MPEG1 Layer2 audio, which should be fine.

Oops, yeah - my description is a bit off.

The MVP is effected because LiveTV uses the capture card, and when set to the 550Pro it had no sound. In GBPVR, the 550Pro works with AC3, but the MVP does not.

I'd guess it has something to do with how AC3 is setup, but I'm not sure.

Anyhow, my 2 main questions were about why the Intervideo doesn't work and if there is another option I haven't tried Smile.

I still dont understand how any decoders youve got installed can affect your MVP. When you watch live tv, its just playing recordings made by your 550 pro. These recordings should have the normal MPEG1 Layer2 audio.

I dont know why your intervideo decoder doesnt like the audio. If you can make a 1 minute recording available, I'll take a look.

I know I need to provide logs, but I'm a bit short on time atm.

One thing I did notice in the logs and graph - it seems to ignore the GBPVR audio decoder. In the logs the graph shows 2 audio filters, the one selected in GBPVR (Intervideo), and another one I had installed to try (MPA decoder).

In the graph, the Intervideo is there, but it's completely disconnected from the flow.

Is it possible my 550pro hardware itself is no longer able to record the audio stream? I tried to re-install the driver but it didn't help.

I'll try to post logs tomorrow.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I've tried multiple MUXs (MS, ATI, Cyberlink). And that recorded shows from the 550 have no audio. Kind of a given, but I wanted to be clear.

Update: I fixed my main problem, decided to reply with it here in case someone else runs into it.

I don't know how this happened, I certainly did not do it. But I opened the ATI Tuner config and under sound - it was set to 0. I hit the "reset" button which put it back to 128. That's it. Silly.

The graph still shows the Intervideo audio decoder, disconnected... not sure what's up with that, but it's working.
