HVR-1600 Analog audio problems.

It seems that a problem has occured where the audio starts to sound weird and scratchy that reminded me of a problem I used to have on an older happauge card where the audio separation setting gets messed up, and if you go into the WinTV app it is always greyed out. It would be nice to have GBPVR always set the separation to zero since it always makes the audio sound bad.

I have run into the same problem several times, where the sound is bad in both GBPVR and in WinTV but I blame it on repeatedly shutting down by sleeping the computer. A full shutdown/restart clears this and I'm not sure GBPVR can initiate this level of hardware reset, but I'm hoping a future driver update fixes it.

Mine seemed persistant after a reboot/Powerdown. The sound seems overdriven and it seems others have had the same problem over on the shpvr forums. I ran the hauppauge hwclear utility and reinstalled the drivers and the problem whent away. but it seems to come back when I use the WinTV app. Also it may occur when changing the channels rapidly in gbpvr.

Signal quality seems poor although all my conections come off the cable amp so they should all be the same level. The Channels on the PVR-500 come in perfectly.

It most likely will be a registry tweek to set the AGC or recording level of the tuner.

I just wish there were better diagnostic utilities for tuner cards.

I just did another test, I started PVRX2 started watching an analog program on the hvr-1600, while this was running I ran config and set volume playback to none, then loaded gbpvr and started watching a show on my pvr-500.

So PVRX2 still alows a volume change since it was loaded before the config change and gbpvr does not. What was interesting was that changing the volume in PVRX2 also effected the volume in GBPVR even though they are on different tuners. So I think the over driven volume may be caused by raising the volume on a different card when the max volume was set on the 1600 causing it to go over 100% volume, thus overdriving the audio.

So perhaps the wrong setting is being changed.

I'm still trying to tweak the registry settings. I notice the reg settings for the 150/500 start with 8775 and for the 1600 they start with 5345

Boy the noise is anoying. still haven't figured how to set the recording volume.
Hope Hauppauge fixes the driver to prevent saturation.
