nvidia 6200 and above (but same again i would go a bit higher)

try and get a fanless card less noise plus the fans on video cards always shit themselves

i see your old card is pci which may limit your choices alot (most cards now are pci-e even agp cards are limited now)

yea... i have agp 4x dont think i have pci-e... i just bought this off a lady and i already feel behind...
Thanks Resnostyle

you should be right with a new card
the machine doesnt need to be super fast stability is the key
and making sure you dont have extra crap loaded you dont need or use

the card you have is just that little bit to old
the thing with getting a new card is that you can offload alot of the graphics stuff to the card meaning that all the pc is under much less load which also helps with things running smooth

only the fanless thing
just get the best card you can afford more on board memory is always a good thing
sub reckons the ati cards work pretty well for him (plus then you are using the same hardware as him and the problem will get sorted sooner if one should arise with new releases)
personally i have nvidia cards in both my machines and have to run them fse Pain in the butt makes the machine unusable for anything else and hard to fine tune
but the up side is you get really good video playback compared to vmr custom which is all i really care about

im not sure that you have to use fse with the ati cards so that could be a selling point (someone else with a ati card might want to add to this)

please note these are just my observations of what has been said in the forums these are not subs recomendations

I'm considering this card to get my old AGP 4x machine to run pvrx2
http://www.tigerdirect.com PNY Verto GeForce6200
Picture shows a fan but they say it doesn't actually have one.

This may be a good choice?
What, me worry?

I would look at the ati 2400 agp it should do 720p without issues in mpeg2/h.264 if you need it even if you cpu is not upto it.
