Recording Directly From VCR?

I brought in my ATI Theater 650 Pro to work to capture some VHS tapes. What's the easiest/simplest way to set this up, since I'm not looking to record any channels and etc., and there's no TV service here, anyway.

GB-PVR isnt really the best tool for this sort of task. You'd be much better off using the software that came with your capture card.

sub is correct, obviously, but I was able to configure the second input on my Hauppauge PVR 500 for VHS tape conversion. It is a kludge and not optimal by any means.

You have to manually set up a new capture source, pointed at your encoding interface. You then have to add a manual channel ONLY used by this capture source.

The end result is that when I tuned GB-PVR to view or record "channel zero," it sampled from the second input.

I converted one tape this way, realized that this task was much easier with WinTV2000, and removed the additional capture source & manual channel.
