Hi All,

If I have 2 Sky Digiboxes, 2 TV Tuner cards and 4 MVP's would it be possible to record any 2 channels at the same time whilst playing a pre-recorded video?

How would you select which Live TV channel you wanted to watch if you have 2 Sky boxes?

TIA

Since you need to tune channels with your Skyboxes you wouldn't be able to record 2 channels and watch a 3rd channel on live TV. You would need a 3rd Skybox and tuner to do this. You should be able to record 2 channels and watch something you already recorded.

The question wasn't quite what has been answered! The issues here are, I think:

1. Can two videocards record from 2 different sky boxes at once on a single "server"?
2. At the same time, can 1 or more MVPs watch a pre-recorded video file?

And, slightly different, but related:

3. If one has 2 video cards and 2 sky boxes, how would the MVPs select (a) which sky box to watch, and (b) which sky box to change channels on?!

Hope that's clearer! I'd like to know the answer too if anyone has any help to add to this.

My best answers:

1. Yes, once you have the IR blasters working with the sky boxes, if it uses them, it should be able to control them both. I have two PVR-250's using the built-in turners and going to upgrade to three on my server.
2. I have 2 MVP's on my single server and we can watch two independent programs. I have had the systems recording two shows while two prerecorded shows were streamed to the MVP's.
3. The GB-PVR server, its a hidden service, controls the capture cards for the MVP and PC client software. The clients will communicate your channel request to the server and it will control the capture card and the spy boxes and then notify the clients as to wich stream/file to use.

Sub might be able to clarify this more, all I know it has worked with the hardware I have thrown at it.
