Hi there,

i am doing some tests with my system and the new pvrx2. graphics is very poor (tearing in live-tv and recordings, slow animations) on tv out, so i tried my tft with 1280x1024 because I am planning to change to a flat during the next months...

I hoped there is a better hardware acceleration on the vga out, but there is not. so my question is, does anybody has experience with the m2n-pv and6150?

Should the graphics performance be enough for the new pvrx2?

Thanks,
Dietmar

I would have thought the 6150 should have been ok with PVRX2. I havnt tested it myself, but I'm sure I've seen comments from other users indicating it was ok.

Hi!

Thanks for your answer. I did some further tests:

* if I change to MPV/MPA decoders, the video performance and live tv is much!!! better

* i guess (not testst) with hdtv (1300x768) the 6150 is too slow!

Btw, i was using mediaportal before, and changed to gbpvr and would like to stay here, because I think it is the better solution. Perhaps not so rich-featured, but more stable and at a better performance...

And the neu gui look really professional!

Thanks from austria(europe)

I use the M2N-PV motherboard with the 6150 and have no problems with PVRX2 or playing 1080i HD content. The trick that I have found if using the Nvidia decoders is not to have the hardward acceleration checked. I experience more stutter and other problems if that is enabled.

I have the same motherboard and do experience the tearing as well. This happens mostly using the VMR9 custom renderer that is used by PVRX2. You could start PVRX2 with the -fse option (setting it in the config app doesn't work) and the tearing is gone in my case, although I get other problems back (related to standby/resume).

The menu's are a bit slower than in MediaPortal, but it doesn't bother me at all. Maybe they are made to be slower... I don't know.

Just this morning I posted a message in a thread stating my findings with this card. Maybe we should start a new thread to collect all experiences with the nVidia 6150 chip, because I have the impression that there are quite a few people using it for PVRX2.

I have no problems with the graphics performance (using it only for TV out). Image quality is however very bad in combination with the PureVideo decoder, so I use the MPV Decoder from Media Portal.

When I had my 27' CRT TV and integrated 6150, I was using PVRX2 (using VMR9 -FSE) and had no problems playing back LiveTV or any typical standard def Xvid/Divx files. It worked great. I should note that I did have my system set to 640x480 and did not attempt to play back HD files. I was using an Athlon X2 S939 @ 2.5Ghz. You may want to try the older 84.21 drivers which work better with 6150s when playing back hi-def files.

Note: I've since upgraded to an 8500GT and running at 1920x1080 on my new HDTV. My 8500GT with PVRX2 (VMR9 -FSE) works great for anything I throw at it such as 1080p MKVs, TS, AVI, etc..

I also have a 6150 working fine, including for 720p. Out of interest, where is the hardware acceleration on/off switch? If follows that I must have it on whatever the default is without any problems!

If you have the Nvidia Decoder selected on the Playback tab in the GBPVR config utility there is a button that will lead to decoder settings. That should open the Nvidia video decoder settings and there is a check box that is labled hardware acceleration. Clear the check box and you have disabled hardware acceleration.
