Hi all,

Is there any particular reason why I can't view a digital channel (HDTV) LiveTV or can't view a recording of a digital channel (HDTV) on my client whereas, I have no problem viewing an analog channel (SDTV) or viewing a recording of an analog channel program.

What am I missing?

BTW, I have no problem viewing a digital channel (HDTV) LiveTV or a recorded HDTV program on the server. I also have no problem viewing a recorded HDTV program on the client outside of GB-PVR. 1600.

Yeah, there is some technical problems with trying to view US ATSC channels (in live tv, or watching an in progress recording) via a client. Unfortunately its not easy to work around this problem, relating to the way the DVR-MS mux works, and been a problem ever since client mode was first added.

Not that its helpful to your problem, but analog capture devices and DVB capture devices fare much better.

Sub, do you ever sleep ... or at least go to the bathroom?

Is this the kind of problem that's going to get fixed or not likely?

Oh, and by-the-by, you mentioned livetv and watching while recording. What about watching after it's finished recording?

Yeah, sometimes Big Grin

I'd like to fix it at some stage, but to be honest it's not a problem I've given much priority to, so I'm not sure when I'll get to it.

Yes, this should be ok.

In case you havnt seen other posts mentioning it though, you need to be using a 'file mode' client rather than 'streaming mode' if your setup is producing .dvr-ms files.

Yeah, I read to use dvr.ms and I tried 'file share' but, like many others, I get stuttering.

I guess for me the best bet is just to use streaming and then view recorded shows outside of GB-PVR and simply forgo watching HDTV channels on the client. Unfortunate, but not terribly high on the priority scale.

Thanks again sub.

try different decoders.
I had the same problem with certian decoders.

ALSO

I discovered alot of the choppiness was due to the automatic defragger I had set up.
when I disabled it the picture quality went up 10x on HD shows.

agidius, thanks for the tip however I need a better understanding of what you've accomplished.

Are you saying that you have successfully figured out a way to view livetv on a client from a digital-sourced channel on the server? My card is a 1600.

Are you also saying that you can view shows that are in the process of recording?

Are you also saying that you can view a past recorded program within GB-PVR on the client?
