Settings for Old Hauppauge Analog PCI Card?

Hi all,

Gbpvr newbie here in an area with no Freeview reception .
I have an old Hppg WinTV PCI card. There is nothing else written on the card. Windows Device manager confirms it has a BT878A chipset. How do I get gbpvr to recognise it? (What do I put in the direct.ini file?) Anything else I should know?

it has to have a hardware encoder chip
i dont think that card has one
therefore it will not work with gbpvr
you could use software recorder plugin (i wouldnt personally waste my time)

Yeah, it lacks the required hardware MPEG2 encoder. Sorry.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I'll either have to wait for switchover day or look at a DVB-S pci card instead. Is DVB-S the same the whole world over?

Yes, for the most part. Some broadcasters use slightly different variations on how the EPG is broadcast etc and few other minor differences.
